Is painting modern?

Modernity has induced a small mistake in what a modern painting could be.

I think that modernity is much more profound than a tool or an aesthetic gesture. Modernity is what happens in an era. I’m confronted to a generation which is coming from the Internet. Having a traditional practice, this necessarily turned my conception of painting upside down.

I think that painting is regaining a very important place, because it’s coming back in modernity, which tends to surprise everyone – and painters in the first place. But I’m convinced that painting is becoming avant-garde.
